How the filter works

Inside the whale sits a replaceable filter cartridge packed with over 200g of KDF-55, calcium sulfite, and activated carbon. 

As bath water passes through, the filter media works together to reduce the chlorine, chloramine, heavy metals, and other contaminants that leave delicate skin dry and irritated. 

And because the whale sits right on the spout, every drop headed for the tub goes through it. No spillover, no shortcuts.

Why we built Norell

When my kid started struggling with eczema and skin sensitivities, I started digging deeper into what was coming out of the tap.

Water quality isn't only about what we drink, it's also what we bathe in. Our water is treated with chemicals that impact the most delicate skin in the house. A few bath filters existed, but many had flaws or lacked transparent test data.

So we built one we couldn't find. And the result is a product that actually works, looks like the most fun toy in the tub, and is genuinely easy to use. Now, we're proud to share it with you.

Will it fit our tub spout?

Almost certainly, it is designed to fit all standard round and rectangular tub spouts. And if yours is the rare exception, our 60-day return promise covers you.

Will it slow down filling the tub?

No. The whale is designed for full spout flow, so the bath fills at the speed you're used to while the filter media quietly does it's job.

Is it safe for newborns

Yes, that's who we built it for. The housing is soft, food-grade silicone with no sharp edges and no BPA, while the filter reduces contaminants already in the water. Use it from the very first bath!

Does it work on well water?

Yes, and well water is often where people notice the biggest difference. Well water tends to carry more sediment, rust, and metals than treated city water, and the filter is built to take those on.

I already have a full home water filtration system, do I need this?

Honestly? You're ahead of most homes. But two things are worth knowing: after a whole-home system does its job, water still travels through your home's own pipes on the way to the tub — and in older homes that's where rust and sediment sneak back in. And if what you have is a water softener, that's a different job entirely: softeners trade minerals, they don't reduce chlorine. Either way, the whale also covers the hard metal spout your toddler will find with their head one day — so it earns its spot even in a well-filtered house.

How long does a cartridge last?

30 to 90 days depending on how much bathing happens in your tub. Our personalized questionnaire above will help determine your exact schedule.

Can I install this as a renter?

Yes! Nothing screws in, nothing glues on, and nothing marks the spout. The band slides on and slides off, leaving the tub exactly as your lease expects it. It's the bath water upgrade you can take to the next apartment.

Can I travel with it?

Yes — it's light, slips off in seconds, and fits standard tub spouts wherever you land. Hotel bath water and grandma's tub are rarely filtered, so the whale is a good traveler for exactly the trips where you can't control the water.
